Miele S5280 Pisces Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

July 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

Miele s5580 Best PriceGerman manufacturer Miele built their very first vacuum in 1927 and has been making products for the home since 1899. Their fine reputation is built on sturdy, dependable and powerful products. The Miele S5280 is just such a product. Packed with power and designed to impress, it is a marvel of German engineering. This lightweight canister vacuum allows you to control suction via a rotary dial on the canister itself. With the dial you can use between 200-1200 watts of power coming from the Pisces’s 1200-watt, high-output Vortex Motor System™.

Like other Miele canister vacuums, the S5280 features a Sealed System™ construction, which makes for a quieter vacuuming experience as well as helping to keep the air clean from dust particles. Its Super Air Clean filter (1 supplied) means that even those who suffer from allergies will have no trouble using it to clean their carpets. A Dust bag change indicator makes it easy to know when to change the bag, and in a nice change of pace from other canister vacuums, changing the bag turned out to be a breeze. The Pisces comes with all the usual attachments (a natural bristle dusting brush for delicate dusting without the risk of scratching your furniture, a crevice tool for corners, and an upholstery nozzle for your sofas and drapes) while the telescoping wand helps with hard to reach jobs. A Parquet floor brush takes care of your hardwood and tile floor needs. The Turbobrush makes short work of cleaning carpets of all types, automatically adjusting to the job.

You’re probably wondering how I could be so impressed with a canister vacuum. Well, I hate to break it to you, folks, but the Miele S5280 Pisces made me a believer in the power and functionality of a well-made canister vacuum. Easy to maneuver, the Pisces has tremendous suction power for such a lightweight and diminutive machine. You’ll find yourself zipping under and around furniture that would confound any of the uprights. Its 1200 watts of power mean that you’ll have exactly the amount of suction you need just when you need it.

Pros: The Miele S5280 Pisces is a marvel of German engineering with great suction and a pleasing design. While some vacuums are designed to be bagless, this Miele uses a bag as part of its sealed system, ensuring better air quality and improved suction. Six levels of power give you precise control over suction .

Cons: Some folks don’t like canister vacuums. If you are one of those, the design of the Miele S5280 may be a con. That being said, this is one of the most maneuverable canister vacuums on the market, light enough for even the elderly to use with no difficulty. Bags may be an issue for some, but I’ve found the Miele bags to last longer than the standard canister vacuums and are a breeze to change out.

After using the Miele S5280 Pisces, I can understand how Miele has stayed in the business for so long. They make quality products from quality materials and back their suction motors with a 7-year warranty. Once you experience the Miele difference, you’ll be singing their praises, too.
