Cons: Most manufacturers are going for that space-age look. The S251 Plus, however, looks like it could have come from the 60s. Not in a bad way, but in a retro, cool kind of way. I like it, but others may not, so I’ll list it as a con. Also, changing bags turns some people off in spite of the fact that Miele has worked hard to make the process as easy and dust-free as possible.

Miele is a name synonymous with quality. The S251 Plus, though quite basic in comparison to their other products, is a quiet, powerful and reliable vacuum. Under the main body of the vacuum, you’ll find a Crevice Tool for hard-to-clean corners, a Dust Brush (with natural bristles,) and even an Upholstery Tool for mattresses, couch cushions, drapes and other upholstered items. Pros: The Miele S5980 Capricorn is a marvel of German engineering with great suction and a pleasing design. The choice of brush heads means the Capricorn can be adapted to your specific carpet conditions. While some vacuums are designed to be bagless, this Miele uses a bag as part of its sealed system, ensuring better air quality and improved suction. Six levels of power give you precise control over suction power with the finger controls conveniently located on the handle.

Cons: Some folks don’t like canister vacuums. If you are one of those, the design of the Miele S5980 may be a con. That being said, this is one of the most maneuverable canister vacuums on the market, light enough for even the elderly to use with no difficulty. Bags may be an issue for some, but I’ve found the Miele bags to last longer than the standard canister vacuums.

Once I got to use the Miele S5980 Capricorn, I was convinced. With its German engineering and its sleek European design, it’s the perfect choice for me. Don’t be fooled by cheap imitations or overpriced uprights. The Miele S5980 Capricorn is a quality choice.

Like other Miele canister vacuums, the S4210 feature a sealed system construction, which makes for a quieter vacuuming experience as well as helping to keep the air clean from dust particles. Its Super Air Clean filter (1 supplied) means that even those who suffer from allergies will have no trouble using it to clean their carpets. A Dust bag change indicator makes it easy to know when to change the bag, and in a nice change of pace from other canister vacuums, changing the bag turned out to be a breeze. The Capella comes with all the standard attachments (natural bristle dusting brush, crevice tool and an upholstery nozzle) but an accessory clip that attaches to the main wand keeps you from having to bend down for them.

The Miele S4210 Capella comes in a pleasant blue color and weighs just 11 lbs. It measures 8” high, 9” wide, and 19” long making it easy to maneuver. It comes with two 3.5L/3.7 quart capacity Intensive Clean Plus™ dust bags. The Capella has a 29.5 foot operating radius, the push of a button send the cord retracting automatically. A slot on the Miele’s side keeps the floor tool attached when you are ready to store it away.

The ability to easily vary the suction power is a nice touch, and with 1200 watts at its disposal, this little Miele has incredible suction.

I like it, but others may not, so I’ll list it as a con. Also, changing bags turns some people off in spite of the fact that Miele has worked hard to make the process as easy and dust-free as possible.

I couldn’t be happier with the Miele S4210 Capella canister vacuum. It does the job I need it to with power and class. It’s a shame more people in the U.S. aren’t familiar with Miele’s high quality line of products. I think the more people experience the Capella (and other Miele products) for themselves, the more they will learn why Miele is a trusted name in the rest of the world. Give it a shot and you, too, will be singing the praises of the Miele S4210 Capella.

The motor-driven Power Brush deep cleans carpets, yet also performs well on bare floors. A smooth floor brush is perfect for sweeping hardwood and tile floors. Its soft bristle design aids cleaning and prevents scratching your floors. I was surprised to discover (after a few months of use) that the S251 Plus is one of Miele’s more basic models. I honestly can’t imagine needing anything above and beyond this fine model, but apparently Miele makes quite a few with more bells and whistles. I prefer the simple satisfaction that is my S251. Its three wheels (as well as the hose) swivel 360 degrees, making it the most maneuverable vacuum I have ever owned. I tell you, nothing is as frustrating as trying to get one of those upright vacuums under certain pieces of furniture.

The S251 Plus comes with a crevice tool for cleaning pesky corners and an upholstery tool for cleaning sofas and drapes. Both tools store away in a special compartment built into the Plus. A dusting brush is also included for baseboards (How do they get so dusty so fast?) and other dusting needs. It comes with a 7-year warranty for its suction motor. That’s a much better warranty than most of its competitors offer.

Miele is a name synonymous with quality. The S251 Plus, though quite basic in comparison to their other products, is a quiet, powerful and reliable vacuum. If you’re anything like me, you’ve grown weary of pushing around a hulking upright. I wanted something easy to maneuver, but that still had the power I need. The Miele S251 Plus delivered. Once you experience it for yourself, you’ll be a believer, too.
